If Homer Simpson was a WoodyBoater he would probably say... Mmmm Hessel...This boat show has a reputation as being one of the premier summer shows in the country. And thanks to Fellow WoodyBoater Chad Durren, we all get a sneak peak of Lake Huron, the Les Cheneaux Islands and the surrounding area, Live-ish from Thursday.
Officially named The 33rd Annual Les Cheneaux Islands Antique Wooden Boat Show, the event is located in Hessel, Michigan, on Michigan's eastern Upper Peninsula. The boat show is sponsored by the Les Cheneaux Historical Association in cooperation with Mertaugh Boat Works, the Hessel Harbor Association and the Hessel Marina. The Historical Association uses the proceeds from this event, along with other contributions, to maintain and enhance the Historical Museum and the Maritime Museum, which are located in nearby Cedarville, Michigan.
