Woodyboater, thanks for the invitation. I've been a member of the Chris Craft Antique Boat Club and a regular participant on Boat Buzz for quite a while. I joined them about 5 years ago to learn more about the Chris Craft cruiser I obtained and how to go about restoring her and caring for her.
ReplyDeleteBefore Boat Buzz was introduced (about 2 years ago) the members used Memberclicks, an e-mail based Forum which was a continuous stream of posts that were not searchable or organized. There was another means of communication in the Club before my time as well.
Woody Boat Blog appears to be a fresh and inviting site and a new means for wood boat enthusiasts to communicate, to talk about their experiences, compare notes, relax and enjoy reading and seeing what others are doing. I especially enjoyed the video link you included. Wow, that was fun to watch.
I own and enjoy a 1960 27' Chris Craft Constellation (which almost qualifies as a runabout), a 1956 14' Glasspar Club Lido double cockpit (has wood-like decking) but it's fiberglass, just sold a 1958 16' Thompson wood runabout (which would have qualified here) but I also own a Chris Craft 1948 17' Deluxe runabout (in restoration) which I'm hoping will soon look as great as "Just Swell" that I saw on this blog. With that one I should fit in.
Woody Boater,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the invitation. I think this site is a new and fresh way of talking wood boats without getting into the technical aspects of boats and restoration. I look forward to visiting and participating.
I have been a member of the Chris Craft Antique Boat Club for a few years and enjoy their Boat Buzz Forum. It's a great way to communicate with other Chris Craft owners and learn the ins and outs of restoration and maintenance on them.
I joined them shortly after obtaining a 1960, 27' Constellation (almost a runabout but a little too big). I also have a 1956, 14' Glasspar Club Lido double cockpit (it has wood-like decking but is fiberglass). I just sold a 1958, 16' Thompson woodie (that would have qualified here). But, alas, I now have a 1948 CC 17' Deluxe Runabout which I'm hoping will look as nice as "Just Swell" (that I saw posted here) after she's restored. She's a beauty.
